BVI Music Festival

27 May 2007 | Cane Garden Bay, BVI
Chris
We sailed from the Bitter End Yacht Club to Cane Garden Bay to go the annual spring BVI Music Festival featuring headliner Wylcef Jean. We piled in to an already crowded anchorage which was about to get more crowed especially after dark. Fortunately there were no major dramas that we witnessed except for an extended anchor dance (anchor...re-anchor....) with a small bareboat charter which just could not find the right spot. I figure there were a 100 boats or so in the anchorage.

We went ashore with the dinghy and found the local church barbecuing pork ribs. They were cheap too which is a complete anomaly in this tourist economy. I had a small rack with a beer and a Johnny cake. It was fantastic - even better than I remember Mister Cecil's in Los Angeles. They were still setting up for the evening concert so we walked around for a while and went back to the boat.

At close to midnight, the time Wyclef was supposed to start, we took the dinghy over to the beach just off the stage and anchored. It was perfect view. The beach was packed fans all the way in to the water but we could easily see the band on the elevated stage. We sat back in the dinghy with a homemade Painkiller and enjoyed the show.
