Aruban Flamingos?

We tied up to the customs wharf and waited for Immigration who miraculously arrived at 8am, on a Sunday no less. A cruise ship was in with people streaming out of it to go running. Maybe it's sort of floating boot camp? Anyway, we had a quick check-in and were off to find an anchorage. We have no guide book, so were kind of flying blind. We went around the corner to the Renaissance Marina, although the office was not open. We poked our nose in but it seemed too shallow so we didn't want to risk it without first talking with someone. We decided to anchor just up the way inside the reef where we saw one other boat anchored. It's quite windy, but holding is fine and the reef at least blocks some of the swell.
We talked with the concierge of the Renaissance Marina/Hotel and they gave us day passes to their private island, so we spent the day there lunching, swimming and much needed napping after only about three hours of sleep the night before. It's a gorgeous island, with lots of wildlife - huge parrots, blue lizards at your feet in the restaurant and pink flamingos on the beach. There is a salt water pool separated from the ocean from just a small rock wall with a view of nothing but beautifully clear aqua water.
Last night we had dinner with a young couple from Princeton, NJ, also on their way to Panama. Went to a restaurant called Que Pasa, excited for some semi-legit Mexican food, although it turned out to be more eclectic - actually I couldn't say what kind of food it was, but it was good nonetheless. Today we're off to Palm Beach, about 2 miles north of here, for some windsurfing or, if the wind calms down, maybe kiteboarding. We haven't done it since New Cal, so may need a refresher, but its a good place for it.
