Final Leg
07 June 2007 | 35 miles out of Aruba

Hard to believe, but we are on the final leg of our round the world voyage. In Colon, Panama, we will officially "close the loop," as we departed from there about a year and three months ago. We still have to sail quite a few miles up the coast of Central America to get home to California, but in Panama we will have made it!
We departed Aruba at about 4pm and are headed due West. We have about 20-25 knots from behind and are averaging 8+ knots with main alone. We will try to stay as far from the Columbian coast as practically possible, as it is one of the potential areas in the world for piracy. It's also a pretty high traffic area with ships going in and out of the Canal, so it most likely won't be the most relaxing passage ever, but I think the excitement will keep us going.
