The Beginning of it All

01 November 2003 | Jamestown, RI
Julie
We spent the entire summer looking at boats. Chris' dream had always been to own a Swan, so we mostly concentrated on Swan 46s lying in Newport and Annapolis. For me it was fun as I had never really spent time on sailboats, having grown up in a waterskiing family. I won't say that the process was easy, but in the end we bought a Swan 46 (then named Maruti) that was almost perfect. I say that because I don't truly think any boat is perfect, especially as I write this more than three years later.

She had been up on the hard in Jamestown, RI, for two years, and needless to say, needed a bit of work. Our first order of business, however, was a new name. We had lots of ideas, some very corny, but ended up with Cisnecito, which means "Little Swan" in Spanish. Having grown up in Southern California, there were a lot of Mexican influences, and we both happen to love Mexican food, so we thought it was appropriate. And we were pretty sure we'd be the only one out there.
