Low Key Monday

Low Key Monday

Jennifer

After a fun social weekend, today felt rather bland. Neither Al or I had a fitful sleep last night so we both chilled out today. Al's patience in stripping Ruth of some electronics and other items we could make some cash on is paying off. This morning's E-bay sale of our old auto-pilot for tiller steering fetched us just over 1/3 of what we sold Ruth for. This money will be used for a system we found on the internet for stowing and carrying our dingy on the back of Close Knit. There are several other pieces that Al will photograph and list up on EBay also. This bonus money will buy paint and products for redoing our teak. Rick and Cinda our dock neighbours left for home today and they let me use their crab condo trap. By 3 pm we had 6 crabs. It must be a gruesome death for these little buggers, being steamed alive in my pressure cooker; I hope they have no central nervous system.
It's tedious cleaning them. I have posted Miss Bridget supervising the pot of freshly cooked crab. I have also posted a picture of the size of the harvest. So much effort, for so little fruit. I figure 6 more snack bags and I'll be making nickel sized crab cakes. Yum.
Of note, there were 5 alligators sunning themselves near the parking lot this morning. One had an arrow sticking out of its back. The dock master eliminated a 12 foot one last Thursday here, it was becoming a little too familiar.

As Jennifer said we chilled out today, maybe a little too much partying over the last 2 nights? I did do a couple of things today, such as taking the autopilot to UPS, & cutting down the arm that holds the BBQ over the back rail, it was way too long & would shake badly in high winds. As for the bonus money, some has already been sent on ordering a really neat dinghy stowage system on the rear swim deck, it's a pivot up system , Photo 1

they also sell a neat motor mount that also pivots as you pull up the dinghy so you do not have to remove the motor. As it fits on its side on the swim platform it will help in docking fees, when some marinas add in the width of a dinghy on davits
