Celebrating Small Gains

Sunday Al continued practicing his walking and here he is standing on his own with his favorite women. His daughters took turns being his communication therapist on Sunday. The exercises were surprisingly confusing and challenging.
We (Al and me)had a bit of a rough night last night in the bladder department so Al went back to SMOL this evening. I have asked that the nurses monitor and check him during the night for these difficulties. He would not likely ring a nurse for help but from 2 a.m. onward it was a struggle for me trying to sort out this difficult hurdle.
Al's daughters helped me remove the mattress frame in our bedroom to make the bed lower so Al can easily transfer into our bed now. Its a larger and more comfortable bed than our guest bed so I believe he was happy to be back in our bedroom.
I will be chatting with Al's therapists this week and his Rehab. physician hoping to get them on board for considering keeping him just a few more weeks. While he is an inpatient he gets much more intensive therapy. He is doing extremely well but I know from my own experience more time will make a huge difference.
