Jennifer
Happy Halloween y’all. Its grey here, not too cold and with any luck the rain will hold off for the tricker treaters.

Al has been working VERY hard in his physiotherapy. A new goal is to graduate from using the quad cane to using a single cane, hopefully by the weekend. He is doing exercises to load up his right leg making him take more weight through that limb. It stretches muscles that have been dormant for four months. I am trying to back off on my hovering as he gains more confidence. This morning I fell back asleep after I heard him get up. I was startled when I heard water running in the kitchen. I dashed to find him in the kitchen making coffee. He has been doing balancing exercises with his OT in the kitchen. He had the water in the reservoir; his only problem was he couldn’t remember how many scoops of coffee to put in. I reminded him and he completed the task. He is definitely making gains in many areas. He tires very quickly and we are working on endurance. We returned to the Urologist on Tuesday and there is nothing ominous to be concerned about there. The bladder issues are related to the brain injury and signals not getting through. This is resolving somewhat on its own and over time we should keep seeing improvement. Medication was an option but the side effects did not seem to make it much of a benefit.

We continually hear “its still early” . Brain healing and recovery continue for a very long time. So patience is key.

Today we will contribute to the candy pile that will be given out to the ghosts and goblins who visit in our lobby. Have a happy and SAFE Halloween.
