Family Day in Ontario
Yesterday was Family Day in Ontario. My youngest daughter is here for a few days from Ottawa. Kiley had yesterday off. We had a really nice day together starting with a good old Canadian breakfast of Canadian back bacon, buttermilk pancakes and real Ontario maple syrup (thanks S&J). Kiley got out my sewing machine and started work on quilt blocks for a wedding gift she is making. Mackenzie and I (mostly Mackenzie) made a batch of lavender hand balm. I knit. Later my kitchen table was a flurry of activity with sewing, knitting and felting.
Together we prepared a prime rib dinner, squash, broccoli and red smashed garlic potatoes and enjoyed the fruit custard pie Mackenzie and I made time to make. We watched a bit of TV and after some decaf espresso Mackenzie took Kiley home where she was going to stay the night so they could enjoy some sister time. Al got in a couple of walks during the day and seemed to enjoy the banter, piping in at appropriate times.
