Happy Fathers Day

Weekend News

Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there. We have settled in nicely here at Dowry Creek. There is a group of walkers (5 on a good day) who walk at 8 a.m. so I am enjoying the exercise. We partake in the daily 5 p.m.happy hour. We are enjoying the folks here and the abundance of fresh cucumbers, tomatoes and green peppers from the communal garden. The temperature has been hot so the pool has been refreshing and a great escape from the heat. We are fortunate to continue to meet friends we have made from our blog. Martha Warner and her husband Al have been following us for quite some time. They live in Raleigh, NC and made a 2 hour trek to meet us and treated us to brunch at the Fish Hook, we even fit in a Food Lion stop. . We had a great chat and they are looking for a new boat to continue retirement on. Not sure we were able to entice them to the dark side, well Al maybe; but Martha seems to be standing her ground on her sailboat desire. In any event we hope to hook up with them again, land or at sea and wish them well in their search for a replacement for s/v Journey.

We are renting a car on mon/tues to go to Washington, NC for wood to do our kitchen reno, which is moving our fridge and adding a separate freezer unit, a new double sink and a fancy faucet. This also means more kitchen storage for me yay. So Al has a list of wood/supplies and we need a West Marine run for extra fenders and more dock line. We think we'll take a run to the Outter Banks to check out some beaches and touristy stuff in the hopes of taking possible guests on a road trip later in the summer. Also there are 2 knitting stores in the outter bank so I will do my usual economy stimulating. Martha was kind enough to bring me 3 balls of fabulous fibre as a boat warming gift, very clever and thoughtful.
