Fair Air Time

Radio broadcasting rules in Canada require a certain percent of music be by Canadian artists. In keeping with that philosophy, I'm trying to be mindful of giving a percentage of time to real boating "stuff". The picture is of the newly installed house battery bank. These are installed on a new platform on a newly painted bilge. Al has been doing a great clean up job below, this is creating more storage space (for yarn). Thanks to a post by Nelleke, Al has been inspired to really cull through his stuff/gadgets and really pare down what he needs to have on board. Yesterdays effort left a wee pile of offerings for free in front of the office. Its true, one man's junk, is another's treasure. Our Neighbor offloaded a few items from Al before he even made it to the gate. I like the posted photo because it shows off our engine in its bright redness, my favourite colour.

The new batteries look nice. What did you put in? Make and amp size that is? Are you using 6 volt golf cart batteries.

There is something missing in this picture though. I just know it.

You referring to the lack of a battery box? or maybe the battery cables? Bought the wood today for the box, & received my cables today (from Genuine Dealz) great job fast shipping & great price. Also received our new 200amp Alternator, which will hang on the opposite side of the engine. Yes they are 6v Golf Cart 220 amps. Plenty of power to run our 5000w inverter!!!

For Snoodletime. The YARN is missing but I seem to keep loosing the armwrestling on that one :(

Al... Yes, it is the battery cables I saw were missing. I am looking at replacing my batteries with something similar. How much did they cost, if you don't mind me asking? I am looking at Trojan, and they are expensive.

Jennifer. I can understand why I did not see yarn in the work space. I'd hate to get it all messed up while I was working in the area. Makes for a big mess...

I just had to post our dessert. Almost too nice to eat, but we did. We think the design was made on thickened cream with edible (we hope) paint.

Road Trip

Yesterday we were invited by P&P to go on a road trip to Cocoa Village (Cocoa Beach). The boys had been told about what may be the best hardware store in the USA, and they just HAD to go there, I'm sorry I didn't get a photo, possibly because I was still delirious from the time I was allowed in Knit and Stitch where I once again got to massage the economy. I scored more yarn with a great ego. And a book on NORO yarn that I had wanted. It has great history about the fiber, its creator and 40 Fabulous PATTERNS. Some of which I'm betting my daughters will love and beg to don. Oh, Oh, back to the hardware store, I get carried away. TRAVIS is the hardware store it is huge and the outside looks kinda Tex/Mex adobe style. It is on 2 levels and very large and rambling, I feared we would lose the boys. It has just about any kind of nut, bolt, wrench you'd need. The inside copper painted ceilings reminded me of Trousdales back home. It was a walk back in time. Large sliding ladders helped you to retrieve objects really high up from inside galvanized drawers. I can't imagine doing inventory in that place. Pete was the only one who really scored there, Al showed good restraint and kept his focus on what he wanted for the stop at the marine surplus store in Daytona on our way back home. Since it was warm out we had lunch outside at Café Margaux Restaurant on Brevard Ave in Cocoa Village. The food was outstanding and the service was the best ever, seriously, the waitress even unfolded our napkins and placed them in our laps for us. Water, coffee and drinks were filled continuously, I half expected them to spoon feed me. They were very attentive but not smothering. The desserts were fabulous and the presentation/art, worth the price alone. We highly recommend it. We headed to Daytona to Sam's Club where Al got the 2 more golf cart batteries he wanted to complete our house bank which will now give us 660 amps of house power. (I wrote that like I understand it.) We got to the marine surplus store where Al was disappointed they in fact didn't have in store what he saw in their on-line store. We arrived home just before dark and collected Miss B who had hung out with Blackie and Red aboard M/V Prim unsupervised. Nothing had been destroyed and all three looked very happy.

Inspiration and Dizziness

My morning routine is coffee in bed and time with my little HP computer. I search my favorite blogs for recent posts. I get inspired by reading these blogs. They make me want to be a better blogger. My most recent conundrum has been a desire to resurrect the knitting blog I started a year ago. But I have decided that its hard to be a dedicated blogger (for all kinds of excuses, which one do you want) to one blog let alone two. Since my passions are knitting and living on a boat, that is what I want to write about. The problem is, I don't want the cruising people to be annoyed about the knitting drivel and visa versa if /I resurrected the knitting blog. SO after MUCH agonizing I have decided I'll just write what I want on sail blogs here. If the moderator kicks me off for inappropriate content (ie, not boat related) then so be it.. Although on occasion under recent posts I see catch lines for adds on how to make a penis larger etc, so my musings about fiber pales in comparison. However if some one had a boat called "Sea Alice" I might be inclined to take a peek. I'm certainly in a rambling mood today. Doing brain housekeeping so to speak. A new year always breeds hope of new self improvement. Rebecca our friend on Zero to Cruising has launched a new blog on fitness on a boat and land (http://www.strengthplus.ca/ . ) This blog is not for the faint of heart. I was breathless, perspiring and exhausted just reading it. Her work out could possibly end my life. yikes

Your last post scared me to death.. I thought something happened that was not good. I don't see why you don't post your knitting stuff here too. I've enjoyed reading about what you are up do and what your interests are. Never thought it could only be about sailing.

Ditto what Steve said.

Crafts as stuff are very much part of cruising and definately have a place in a boaty blog. I think that the only thng that Tim would get us\pset about is if you started to get all commercial in your postings. You know, for sale on eset of mittens or knitter for hire, that sort of thing.

Pls don't stop.

Thanks for plugging my new blog Jennifer! Fitness is a real passion for me like knitting is for you. Nice that you have that as a hobby to do while on the boat. I do a bit of macrame on our boat as a hobby but I'm not very good at it (I need to work on my patience a bit more).

Hi Jen: I think the blog thing includes all things about your life on the boat. Maybe it's knitting, painting, writing, whatever ....it's your life on the boat, and your fans are interested!!!!
Enjoy the sunny weather. I like your flip flops or whatever you call them. I love your doggy.

I won't post a picture of my latest French Press Slippers. They are a hideous shade of Clemson Orange for my Sister in law! Love your color though. We're in South Miami waiting to cross to the Bahamas. We love Palm Coast but blitzed thru there this year. Will you go back to Dowery Ck for the summer?

I think we will stay here in Florida, & maybe get an early hop to the Bahamas this winter.

What I Forgot

Told you, CRS. On yesterdays post I omitted that we took the family into St. Augustine to tour the old town. We had walked and walked had supper and had tickets to tour the lights around town after dark on a tour train. The lights were absolutely spectacular and the tickets were normally $7/pp. But we got a $5/pp deal because my BIL (brother-in-law) was wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs cap, The sales gal was a hockey enthusiast and I'm unsure why the discount as I doubted she was a Leafs fan, maybe she just felt sorry for us?????????

PS. I have been bad at photo taking lately so featured is Buddy, our neighbor and a friend of Bridgets.
