For As Long As It Lasts
Happy 4th July. We will be leaving!!

Just received a call from Jim Pierce, the transmission is now ready. He will call Louis to arrange to have it reinstalled. Needless to say our pockets are much lighter, but the good news is, that it turns out, that our ebay purchase was a real jem. it was in "like new condition" inside. Jim only had to put in new seals, although most were good, but we decided to replace them all while he was doing it. Jennifer will be returning next week to C.K. to help bring her back to Palm Coast. Now all we have to do is dodge the thunderstorms that have been around for the past 2 weeks.

We're talking colour, not the place. Its the colour Kiley painted the bedroom she's been working on. Notice the dated tacky floor. Tomorrow I have a man hired to lay the new floor. I'll take a post photo. Tomorrow is the big day that J moves in with Kiley. Tonight she will arrive with her pets , four of them, thats right folks, four more to add to the already three here. This brings the menagerie to 4 cats, and 3 dogs. Sharon, Jessie Bruce, Danny, Turtle, Charlie, Finnegan and Levi. Tomorrow K&J will take the rental truck back to Ithaca, NY to fetch J's furniture and any remaining boxes. I have offerred to prepare dinner for them, and the Help (Gareth & Alison) I'm still on a cuban fixation so Picadillo it will be. YUM andStrawberry SparkleCake.

Garden beauties

Attached are flowers from my garden. My flowerbed is not as awesome as it once was. My daughter would rather sew than weed. But I managed to gather these beauties for a small arrangement. My committment to cleaning out my basement is almost complete so I can now socialize with friends and maybe play in my garden a bit. Although secretly I have been waving to the universe to get the engine repair finished so maybe I could fly down next week some time to help crew CK further north then Al and I both can make the trip back to Canada for visiting family and friends.

Celebrating CANADA

Yesterday I celebrated Canada's birthday with my sister and brother and their families, in the town we all grew up in. It was nostalgic visiting "the point" where we spent hundreds of summer hours swimming, boating, barbequeing when our family was growing up. Not much has changed except the faces, they are all young families, I only recognized one elderly neighbor, Mrs. Berger who proudly told me she would be turning 80 soon. But she looked great and still had the energy I remember. The photo is of the youngest family offspring Willow, donning her Canada day gear and tattoo. Guess our family likes tattoos. This was her first Canada Day and she seemed to enjoy it.

Transmission Update
Al -Hot & Sunny & Humid

Well Jim called this morning with an update on the transmission we bought, It appears to be in almost as new condition. Obviously had very few hours on it. It was full with rain water so there was some rust staining, but it is all cleaned up. The only thing we are replacing is the seals, as it is almost 50yrs old...
Wonder if I could get new seals & a few other parts at my age!!!!!!
If he has all the seals in his shop it should be finished today, else by next Wednesday if he has to order any.
Hopefully by the end of next week it will be back snuggled up against the engine, & our pockets a lot lighter from labor charges, thank goodness no parts.
Last night I had a blast catching Mullett 20-30" on a light rod & tackle. Something was driving a very large school into the dock basin, could not see what was doing it. I did not keep any as I did not know what to do with them.

Good news on the tranny. As for the mullet,
marinate them whole in Ripple for two days, deep fry in 30wt peanut oil, sprinkle with crushed coconut and oyster shell, gently place a large tray on the aft port rail, express an oath to Oden and slip them over the side. With a little luck some drunk downstream will scoop them up for breakfast and then the fun begins ;-)

Pete.
I can tell, you have nothing to do!!! I need to get out of the Keys, it is so humid here. Hopefully we will be out of here week after next....

You think it's not humid in Palm Coast? You have to get much further N to escape the humidity. Try New England.
Sails and SALES

In my whirlwind cleaning I came across 3 sails. Alistair suggested he'd try selling them when he is home next, but I thought cruisers need them now not in 6-8 weeks. So I put them up on Kijiji and a nice young man from Ottawa bought the biggest genoa and 2 west marine recliners SCORE.
