SALES IN WEST MARINE AND KNITTING INDUSTRY ABOUT TO PLUMMET IN USA
That's right folks, the USA won't know what hit them. There will be no more influx of our cash into West Marine or the various knit shops I frequent south of the border. Later this morning we will cross back into Canada. We awoke this morning in Syracuse to 2 inches of snow ARGHHHHHHHHHHH Bridget was not impressed. She was very confused as to where to let it all go.
The weather held nice into Virginia, but we saw the temperature drop in Pennsylvania and we had dense fog, rain and sleet. Looks like the drive today will be wet snow conditions.
Bridget's coat got finished in the St. Nick of time. Because she is so slender I made some modifications along the way but I think she looks very in VOGUE.

02/21/2012, en route to Charlotte Harbour Boatyard
The coat is coming along nicely and a cursory fitting proves it. It is a fun knit and I am learning some new techniques. I've never done short rows that call for a wrap and turn method. I wasn't quite getting it and had to frog just a bit and looked to You-Tube for some help but on the second attempt the light bulb went on. YAY.

Bridget understands she will be in the North soon and is imploring me to focus on her coat.

DIY- LOCK - Seriously
We made good time across the bay to the boat yard. Before entering the long canal to the yard we did our first ever DIY lock. It was pretty straight forward. Push a button to start the process then after that using a series of pull chains we controlled the opening and closing of the lock. It was kind of a cool experience. We saw dolphin on this last day on the water, which is always a positive sign for me. I still get a surge of excitement when I see them, it hasn't changed from the first one I saw almost 3 years ago. The yard was ready for us and we drove right into the sling. After a quick pressure wash (the bottom was very clean), we were blocked and now Close Knit sits in her cradle to wait until we can reunite with her again. This boat yard is very friendly and feels already like it was a good choice. We can return to Canada with a good feeling.

02/20/2012, Punta Gorda, Fl
Just out of the gates is the second attempt at Bridget's winter coat. I have packed up all I can do at the moment. We are ready to leave Punta Gorda about 7 am tomorrow. Its about a 20 mile hop. Once we get there our haul out and blocking are scheduled. We will get our rental car and start to load it and make a food bank stop. We will sleep on the boat Tuesday night while it is on the hard. It will be a sad night since we have no idea when we will get back to cruising about. Once the shrink wrap is complete on Wednesday we will head to Palm Coast to pick up mail/ packages and see Pete & Pokey and the boyz. Bridget is very excited about seeing her boyz-friends again.

Dog Coat gone Slouchie
Bridget looks on in disgust. What started out as my attempt to make her a coat for Canada made a turn into a slouchie hat. After scouring the net for an appropriate pattern I believe I have nailed the right one. After more packing today I'll cast on and relax with the needles. We are hooking up with another Canadian couple for supper to night. Olga and Andre are from Gananoque and we hope we will continue the friendship in Canada. They have traveled the Bahamas in MysticBond so we hope to learn from their voyages.
