Sail Away with Second Wind..

There she is!
10/10/2009, Oceanside, CA

We sailed up to Oceanside on Saturday, and as we were taking a stroll around the marina guess what we saw....?

Our old boat! Yes, Gail Force is alive and well and now stored in-water! She was a great little boat for us so we were excited to see that her new owner has taken great care of her!

Amazing what a year will do to you..

Our friends on Zephyrus called last week to wish us "happy 1 year" entry back into the US and completion of "the Baja Bash." We were so happy to hear from them - but I can't help but be reminded too how quickly life just zooomms by. We're amazed it's been a whole year since we got back. We're posting this picture of us, Zephryus, and Windblown at San Juanico at Punta Pequena --a great little surf village on the outside of Baja. We loved this sign! Sailors spend so much time "watching the weather" by listening to the HAM weather reports that we thought this sign was perfect! Keep it simple!

Actually..yes!

Despite leaving our cruising lifestyle and coming back to the demands of "life on land" we've not forgotten think back, laugh, and smile about our life....1 year ago. In fact, our friends commented, "what do you do, go down to the boat and pretend you are back in La Cruz, La Paz, or Zihuatanejo?" Ha, ha... sad, but yes! We are not alone though!!!

A few weekends ago on a BEAUTIFUL weekend in the middle of winter, we arranged for an anchoring permit to La Playa cove. Sounds exotic...Spanish even...eh? I know you are thinking ...."Maybe they are escaping back to Mexico?" If you are a cruiser, you'd know right away that wasn't the case when the word permit was in my first sentence. Permit = US = regulations. In Mexico, you drop the hook where you're comfortable and voila, enjoy the sunset over a nice beverage! So La Playa Cove is right around the corner from our slip, but it is a nice little anchorage...allowing us to escape from "life on land."

We had a real nice weekend kayaking, exploring, playing cards, and just hanging out. Like I said, we weren't alone. That same weekend anchored right next to us was a couple we'd met in Agua Verde, Mexico in May. No, we didn't pre-arrange a meeting. It just so happened we both decided to anchor out, and we actually hadn't seen them since the day we met in Agua Verde in May!

See...we're not crazy... and actually, yes, appears it's quite the "in" thing to pretend you're back in Mexico on a winter weekend in San Diego. :)
