The Neverending Day

By noon yesterday we commented to one another that the day seemed like an extra long one...or maybe even a "groundhog day." I think we were feeling this way because we'd been up most of the night and pulled into the marina first thing in the morning. Needless to say, we had a full day. We checked in with the marina office and also went to talk to some other cruisers on Rondeau Bay. We saw them in Las Hadas anchorage, but we'd not gotten a chance to talk to them. They are a young cruising couple from Quebec who had taken a year off, and we're hoping to get together for dinner with them later this week.
There were a few highlights from yesterday. The first highlight was showers - yea! It's always nice after not doing a "real" shower for weeks to use as much water as you like at the marina facilities. The second highlight is we decided to go out for dinner. We went out toward the resort area and ran across a Carlos & Charlies (chain down here). We had a great dinner overlooking the beach and the sunset. We started talking with some guys next to us who brought a camera...so they took our picture with the sunset in the background and said they'd email it to us.
The facilities here are really nice. They even have a pool. For those that don't know, I don't swim in our own pool at home (well, maybe once a year), but right now the pool is sounding nice! Today won't be a day for swimming though. We're cleaning the inside and outside of the boat while we have lots of electricity and water. It's not gotten a really good cleaning since we last saw a marina, so it's definitely time. We're also planning to change the oil and filter and the fuel filter. We also discovered that our coolant hose chafed between Manzanillo and here, so we have to fix that too. There's always lots of projects, but that's part of cruising. Good thing Cory is handy otherwise I don't know what we'd do!
Tomorrow will be a day for fun and exploring. Of what we've seen, Ixtapa is really nice. In fact, it doesn't seem like "real" Mexico..it seems more like a resort.
And, a final thought for the day...we've hit a milestone! As of pulling into Ixtapa, we've come over 2,000 statuate miles! Since this is our furthest point South, we'll have that many to go home too!!
