We got the work complete on our engine, but not without a trip into Z-what. Our engine coolant line had chafed beyond repair, so we went to town to get a replacement. We're so glad we did. Z-what is just an awesome little place, and I think we're going to enjoy it when we move our boat closer and anchor in the bay this week.

One of the reasons we like Z-what is because it's a great little Mexican town. In one of my previous blog entries I'd mentioned that Ixtapa didn't seem like "real Mexico." That is because Ixtapa is the land of big mega-resorts along the beach and lots of tourists. Zihuatanejo is the opposite. Zihuatanejo is only a few kilometers away from Ixtapa, but it's a nice little Mexican town. Along the waterfront the fishermen sell fish in the morning market, and there are a ton of family owned businesses in town. Although we went to town for a replacement part, we stayed and walked around a bit and had lunch at the Zihua Pancake House. We like having breakfast anytime of day, and this was the perfect place. Cory ended up ordering 2 meals and 2 beverages, but the total tab including my meal was less than $20 US. I don't think we'll go broke in Z-what with those prices, but there are so many good restaurants that it's going to be hard not to go out to eat a lot.

Last but not least, we had an "oops!" moment earlier this week. Cory has been complaining on the detail that our GPS chart plotter gives us. We have a Raymarine C70 on the helm (wheel) and a handheld Garmin 76Cx as a backup. Well, our cheap little Garmin was giving us much better detail on the anchorages than the Raymarine, and we couldn't figure out why. Well, when we were cleaning the boat earlier this week...we figured out why. It would help if we put the Mexican GPS map chip into the Raymarine chart plotter! All this time we had been using the US chart chip. No wonder we weren't getting the detail. All I can say is, guess we'll have better information for our way North!
