Holy Croc!

I was just about to update the blog tonight when Cory said, "Wow, look out the window!" Holy cow, an 8ft crocodile was cruising near our boat! This is a far cry from the little crocs we saw on the jungle river trip. This guy was so big, I wasn't interested in getting off the boat. Cory, of course, ventured down to the dock to take some pictures. The croc ventured over to the slip next to us, and it got a bit creepy. My first thought was, "I wonder how high those guys can jump?" So, we saw a big croc at the marina. The reason they live here is because the marina backs up to an estuary.
On another note, we'll be here in the marina for a little while longer. The port captain closed the port this afternoon because we're getting some big breakers. The storms in Southern California have finally brought the swells this far South. We thought that the swells would be here yesterday based on the report on magicseaweed.com (a surfing site for Mexico). So, when the port is closed, you can't leave. We're not sure when the port will open. That, and the breakers have probably dumped a bunch of sand in the channel. On our way into the marina at high tide, we only had 7ft of clearance. We need at least 6ft with our keel. So, we may have to wait for the channel to be dredged to leave. Oh well, we were in no rush. The marina is nice, and Zihuatanejo is a short bus ride away.
