Car Shopping?

18 March 2008 | Santiago Bay, Mexico

Yes, I know it sounds a bit odd since we're on a boat that we went "car" shopping. I should say that "car" shopping to us really means dinghy shopping. Yesterday we had another incident with our dinghy. We came back to the beach with a full load of groceries only to find one of the pontoons on our dinghy totally deflated. Guess our "boat show special" wasn't quite the deal we'd hoped for when we bought the dinghy a few years back.

Well, Dolphin came to the rescue! Skip on Dolphin and his wife were on the beach when we found our dinghy deflated, and Skip gave Cory a ride to our boat to get the air pump. We were able to inflate the dinghy enough to get it back to our big boat and unload the groceries. Turns out, Dolphin had bought a brand new dinghy just last week from another boat. The dinghy didn't work for them or the other boat because it was too small for their large outboard engines. So, the dinghy was up on the market again. We took a look at it this morning and took her for a test drive. It worked perfect with our little 2hp engine and is made of hypalon which stands up to the sun much better than our PVC dinghy. So we have a new addition - we welcome "Squirt" to the family. She's a little gal, but I think she'll do well for us.
