We pulled up anchor at about 3:15am. Zephrus and Windblown were behind us by about an hour or so. Since we were the lead boat rounding Cabo Falso (a large headland like Cabo Corrientes or Point Conception), we relayed weather information to them via VHF when we saw their lights in the distance. Around Falso, we saw up to 30 knots of wind and a consistent 25 knots of wind at 3am. Typically the best time to round the point is early am. Once we got about 10 miles north of the point the winds and seas calmed down a little bit.

Right now we're about 110 miles from our destination. We have 20 knots of wind from the WNW. We have the mainsail up and we're motorsailing our way up the coast. We have more wind today than we'd like. The forecast was for 5-15 knots out of the WNW. We're hoping it calms down a bit for tonight. The seas are 4 feet our of the west. Our current GPS position as of 5pm is:23 37.7N, 110 39.6W.

If we're able to continue at the rate we're running we will be at our destination sometime before dark tomorrow.

If you've considered cruising, but never had the ability to cut the ties to land, contemplate this quote from Mark Twain....."Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bow lines. Sail away from the safe harbor. [...]
