Santa Marta

03 March 2012 | Columbia
Les
We made it to the port of Santa Marta, Columbia early hours of this morning after two nights at sea, We had been watching the weather for the last 9 days in Aruba to get the right weather system and did it Spot on. The strongest wind we hadvwas 43 knots and that was coming into port. The seas were around 2 - 3 metres and the wind was from behind so it was a bit rolly at times, but we can't complain we are now safe and in port and the boys don't smell anymore.. Martin had a visitor early hours of this morning it was a bird that flew onto the Bimini and scared the hell out of him, it stayed to say hello then crapped everywhere and left..

It is costing us 75 US dollars to check in at Santa Marta. We were then going to sail on to Cartagena which is only 80 miles down the coast but you have to pay customs, import and a permit which adds up to another 300 US ??? what the !! Cruising life is getting expensive but thats what happens when you own a boat...
