Northern sunsets
22 July 2013
Sometimes I wonder if God is conspiring to make us think twice about leaving England and heading out to seek adventures in the Caribbean. The weather here in the north of England has been little short of glorious. Every day for the last couple of weeks it has been warm and sunny, in fact it has been more than warm it’s been hot, as hot as it is in the Dominican republic, up to thirty degrees some days. When its’ like this it makes you wonder why you ever thought of moving so far away.
The sunset tonight, setting behind Black Coombe was sublime, with fluffy pink cloudlets overhead and then the finger clouds of sky high cumulous soaking up the brilliant orange that fade to sultry pinks mixing with dense purples and greenish blue. Forever mingling and sliding over each other until my heart sings, my soul warms to this England, this evening, this beautiful country and I forget for a moment the long bleak winters.
Leaving, to seek out adventures on the high seas, leaving all our friends, leaving a life that we have carved out over twenty five years. Butterflies, this morning Jackie got them. This is now such a stark reality, this, burning bridges, this point of no return, that is now kicking in. We have lots to do before we fly on the 1st of September but here tonight we sit dumbfounded in the bothy and wonder at the beauty of Northern sunsets.
