Finally! No more delays. The winds are gusting to 25 mph, so it'll be a rough ride leaving land, but the rally is finally on their way to Tortola. 1500 miles to go!
Unfortunately Ed had to leave them and go home. The delays were too long. But John, one of our old, close friends was waiting in the wings for a chance to come. Thank goodness! So Toby picked up John at the airport this morning, as boats started to leave. Watching other boats leave as you sat there had to be tough! But all went well, and with Norm, Tom and John on board with Toby, they set sail.
They were giddy, as were all the crews on all the boats, even the ones that have done this many times before. No one knows what's in store for each of them on this trip. They'll all have stories to tell when they get there!
Right now their SPOT isn't working. Toby said he will try a new battery later. Also, watch them on the C1500 fleet tracker. You'll see a map of all the boats and their progress every 6 hours. It's a kick! I think it will take them 10 days. Seth thinks it will take them 9. It all depends on the weather and possible "issues" on the boat!
Safe travels, Comocean!
