Learning the Intercoastal

After night on the fuel dock of the Delray Harbor Club Marina, Joanne made a brilliant exit off the dock, and Comocean slid softly into shifting mud just off the dock. STUCK! It was the absolute lowest tide moment of the day. We had asked for help (local knowledge) from the dock hand. No advice. Sitting in the mud, we asked her if any other boats had been stuck there. Her reply; “Only one that she has seen before us”. So much, for “local knowledge”.
About 45 minutes waiting for the tide to rise, and a number of pushes to try to free ourselves and large jet boat asked if we could use a tow. With little prodding, I threw them a line. He tied it to the ski hook over the head of the boat. Two quick pulls and we were free.
Joanne and I then pushed further north and made another 10 bridges. For the most part we made the timing between them and landed near Juno Beach. Dinner at a local restaurant was surprisingly good. The fish Tacos, Mahi Mahi for Toby and Cod for Joanne, were full dinner size entries of fish. The Loggerhead Marina team was very helpful and accommodating.
Another great coincidence on the trip north was passing the Moran family yacht center and seeing the vessel Gallant Lady (photo). We frequently ran into her on our trip through Tortola.
