Ready to run!

Comocean is off and running for our third year south. This year, the Bahamas. We are joined by an able crew of perennials John Hoffman and Norm Weill, plus second timer Tony Green. New to Comocean will be John Driscoll, a Cape Cod friend. All of you have shown interst in our travels so I will include you in my daily (If the Sat Phone works) e-mails.
That said, we are in Hampton Virginia and headed to Green Turtle Cay, Abacos, Bahamas. We are going with a group called the Salty Dawgs. We get professional weather service, and LOTS of advice!!!!!
And, where does the advice ALWAYS START: It starts with weather. It's what fishermen, sailors and golfers do. However, when you are about to cross a small ocean, or more importantly, The Gulf Stream, you talk a lot more about it then normal. Seth, and the team, have spent countless hours discussing this as a hard North breeze will set on the strean when we least want it. The Caribbean 1500 boats are all leaving tomorrow and will face a lot of wind. They are headed to the BVI. We are headed to the Bahamas, and the weather really does not get good until later in the week. So a decision must be made. We have chickened out, are leaving early (tonight, Saturday) as soon as our lst crew member gets to the boat. BUT, we are going to hug the coast. Less wind, safe harbors if we need them and a longer time to decide on where and when we cross the Stream.
