Second Option

Hi Dad. I see you are very close to shore near Hatteras but Spot timed out an hour ago so please reset.
From your position you have made good time and I would actually recommend you duck just inside Norfolk if you can make it tomorrow morning without much pounding. Nothing has changed but given how close you are it might be a good option to duck in and let a day pass and avoid the North winds altogether. You could rest up and sail east on Friday until the winds abate and complete your voyage north. Thoughts on this?
If not, our plan discussed today is definitely still an option. You can tack to the Northeast tomorrow and ride out the 20 knot winds from the north and probably get to Cape Cod a full day and a half earlier - but it will be unpleasant through Friday.
Either option works so it depends on how rested everyone feels and if you want to risk potential breakage, etc. If you do continue be sure to look at the boat for chafe before it gets rough.
I'll update the model again in the morning and look forward to hearing what you decide. Update SPOT so we can track your progress.
Love,
Seth
