My Mom, JoAnne, spoke to my Dad this morning and all is well on board. Apparently the conditions were not all that rough overnight and everyone was able to get some sleep as they
crossed over the Gulf-stream northerly current. No one is experiencing sea-sickness feelings either, which is great. The only reported problems were that there appeared to be no cereal on-board (which apparently warranted a satellite phone call to the first-mate to see where it might be stored) and the Dutchman sail flaking system is broken (which is not a problem since the sails are up). The stuffing box, which lubricates the propeller shaft, was also apparently a little dry, but Tom was able to adjust the drip to get it wet again and a major problem was diverted (thank you Tom!).
So, according to the C1500 tracker, Comocean is kicking butt and passing boats. They have also made great easterly progress which will help in the future as they exit the Gulfstream earlier than the other boats and position themselves for the easterly trade winds that will pick up on Wednesday. Currently they rank 33rd out of 62 (with their corrected handicap time), but they are also further east so they are better positioned for the long run. This is a big improvement over their 38th ranking last night. Good work men!
More later.
