A Pain in the ......

It wasn’t until my hands were on the smooth teak of the ship’s wheel and the gentle rise and fall of the swell did I feel love sick all over again. I can’t tell you how awesome it is to be out there on the sparkling blue waters once more. The sun was shining and the forecast was excellent for a magical day at the wrecks at Tangalooma. In our minds it was the brand new paint job that eased her through the crystal clear waters off Moreton Island after a good 4 hour run across. We immediately christened the bbq for brunch and then it was time to decide if we would investigate the wrecks or continue reading on top deck, half in the sun, half in the cool breeze that blew across us hmmm. I have never seen ice green waters before but that is what lapped the shores made all the brighter by the white sand below the dingy. How can you not love such a place and it is just a hop skip and a jump across Moreton Bay. As I lay there I was comparing it to all the magical places in the Pacific and it comes up in the top of the list. So if you haven’t graced Tangalooma lately then add it to your list. There are a myriad of things to do ashore there if you care to stop relaxing. I heard the dune bikes power off up the sand hill and the volleyball laughter across the water when he who hums and beaming No 1 son off snorkelling. Whilst son No 2, well he was busy trying to get his latest project to scoot smoothly across the waters like all the others. Feeling I really should be off checking on the resident dolphins or hiking the tracks but I couldn’t stop admiring our change of season weather as it was gob-smackingly perfect from where I had fallen. It is moments like this you do wonder when the joke is going to be over as it is all too good to be true. However, after the magical sunset was done and dusted we did make a decision to night sail back into the Brisbane River to get out of the forecast 25knot winds that were coming in (there’s that joke I was waiting for). But that too proved to be silent and magical as all radars and trackers showed nothing to be alarmed about as we made our way back. I really meant to be telling you how in love with the motion of the boat I was but got side tracked on the location, sorry. To cut a long story short I dream about being out there in the blue wonder again and really living every second of every day, never wanting them to end. I took the helm again as we wove our way back around the interesting twists and turns of the Brisbane River back up to the city as I needed to get it into my head that it was over for another weekend. We throw a wave to all our city cat friends as we share the same aqua hood with them and they recognize Condesa as she glides past. Each of the many Cats busily ferrying the Sunday passengers from Hamilton North up to The University of Queensland as we drift with no time-frame at hand. The CBD restaurants adorned by many river spectators all have sun-downers in hand also send us a cheer as we watch them in return enjoying themselves. It is all still work in progress this settling in business and I never expected it to be such a pain in the heart.

The word "carnaval". The general consensus is that it evolved during the middle ages, as part of the Roman Catholic ritual of lent. I hear it concludes on 'Fat Tuesday'???
