On June 5, 2015, we purchased our 45' Catalina Morgan center cockpit 1994 sailboat from a broker in Ventura, California. There, we had some work done: interior cushions reupholstered, cushions for the cockpit, a dodger and cover for the boom, a StackPack for the main sail, a UV protective sun strip for the head sail....and of course we had to change the name of the boat. It was previously named "Black Opal". We decided to move the boat to Coral Marina in Ensenada, Baja California as slips are less expensive, and it is fairly easy to the airport in San Diego as Pat has a few more weeks of work before retirement. The line to cross the border in San Ysidro can be long, from 30 minutes to 2 hours; we're waiting for our Sentri pass which will cut down on the wait time. We had captain Chris Buchanan bring the boat down for us, as Pat was busy at work. There's a lot of work we need to get done in Ensenda before we head south! This is a photo of Black Opal when we purchased her.
