We had a great time in Treasure Cay Thursday and Friday with the French and Aussies! The beach there is absolutely beautiful!! Claude dove right in and went for a swim but the rest of us just walked on the beach. Craig and I had a beer and Grouper fingers at the beachside pub there and then we all walked over to the "shopping center" for a look around. Thursday nights they have pizza night at the marina so the 6 of us went and had a great pizza. Friday night we had pot luck on Greg and Bev's boat along with Claude and Marie. It was great and we enjoyed their company very much! We all headed out Saturday morning and went up to Baker Bay off Guana Cay. Claude found some conch for us all and he and Craig went snorkeling for lobster and came back with 4 nice ones. That night we all ate on the Frenchies lagoon and had conch chowder and lobster! We anchored here for the night and the next morning went into the bay to go to the Nippers famous pig roast. This is a huge outdoor bar on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic side. The veiws were unbelievable!! The next morning about 5 a.m. the Aussies and French left going back to Jacksonville. We heard from them later and it took them about 46 hours to get there. We will miss them all on the rest of our trip!

The winds finally laid down long enough for us to scoot around "the whale". It's called a rage when the winds are up and it's nearly impossible to cross at that time. We got to Marsh Harbor on Monday to find Bev and Greg there. Very happy to see them again! We went ashore with them and they showed us the ropes. Took a very long walk up the main street and went in several stores. Marsh Harbor is the biggest island in the Abacos and they have a lot of restaurants and a huge grocery store similar to ones in the US but twice as expensive! Tuesday night we went over to a Lagoon to have happy hour and meet two more couples. Marie and Claude who are french Canadian and Jane and Lawrence who are English but now live in Canada. It was a very enjoyable night and nice to meet new friends! Heading off to Treasure Cay tomorrow with the Aussies and French. Should be fun.

Well, we spent our first week in the Abacos in Green Turtle Cay. We arrived on the 1st and left today. We anchored for the first couple of day and then went into the marina as they were haveing a special. If you docked at the marina you food bill came off of the docking bill you owed. First opportunity to find out that a beer is $5.00. Not good! The second morning we were here we met a couple from Atlanta and asked them to rent a golf cart with us to go into town. There are very few cars here and the roads are very narrow. We had a great time with Bill and Ann and made the rounds very quickly! We ate lunch at the "Wrecking Tree". I had my first fresh conch burger. It was awesome!! We went to the grocery store where we found out just how expensive things can get over here! We also went over to the ocean side for a look at just how beautiful the Bahamas can be! The wind got pretty strong later in the week so all the boats set tight waiting for an opening in the weather to go further south. From here you have to go around the "whale cay" which has what is called a "rage" . It can be pretty harrowing in any kind of blustery weather. So there was quite a convoy on Monday morning heading to Marsh Harbor and other beautiful locations in the Abacos!

We arrived here today about 9:30 AM. We had to fill out a bunch of paperwork and take them along with our passports to the customs office at the dock. Or rather Craig did. Only the captain is allowed to go. At least at this harbor. We heard that could differ from person to person and place to place! Anyway, we decided to stay at the marina overnight as it was a long one last night. We both took about a 4 hour nap and then went for fresh conk fritters and Bahamian beer!!

Left Coconut Grove this morning and came here to no name to find a partner to cross over to the Bahama's with. No luck so we are leaving by ourselves about 6:30 pm heading to West Side to check in over there. Should be 12-14 hours.

We've been in Coconut Grove for a week. This is a great little area! The city bus is a quarter and you can get anywhere you want to go pretty easily. We stayed at the Coconut Grove Sailing center on a mooring. We were right in front of the dock and they had a tender service. The Art show actually enclosed the sailing center so when you walked out of the sailing center gate you were in the art show! The only problem there was if you wanted to walk up the block to The Cocowalk to eat or something you supposedly had to pay to get back in. But we were usually able to get our hand stamped or if we came back after the show had closed for the day the guard or someone would escort us back to the sailing center. We took the bus to the metro and the metro to the people mover and got off about 2 blocks from the strictly sail part of the Miami boatshow on Saturday. We had a good time and stayed after for the Lats and Atts party for the free beer and pizza!!LOL! It was awesome! After the weekend the boat show and art show were over and things got back to normal around there. Coconut grove is a cool little area. Within a block from the boat were 8 or 10 restaurants. All with sidewalk tables and just fun to go sit and watch the people go by. The cocowalk is what they call the area with restaurants and shops and a movie theatre. We went to a matinee to see the Kings Speech for $5. We really liked it. They also had a thrift shop there and a ton of painted peacocks that were done for an auction but were at the time we were there, on display on various street corners. They were so fun to find! Tons of more good food! All these little mom and pop cafe's and one of a kind things. It was awesome!!
