Dinner With Friends
15 March 2009 | Alice Town, N. Bimini, Bahamas
Carol
We walked around the island today and took a lot of pictures. This island is a lot more than we expected.
Tonight we walked around with friends looking for a restaurant and ended up just across the street from the marina. The one little native restaurant only had on lobster, no conch and no ribs. I guess everything depends on the weekly mail boat. The large restaurant and bar that we ate in was very good. All 6 of us got seafood. But, we were the only people in the restaurant or bar. Even though it was Sunday evening and given the ecomony, we were surprised. There was plenty of help and the food was all good.
We had met both couples in Marathon with the ideal of going to a spot near Key Largo, (about 50 miles away) on Fri morning and going to Bimini on Sat., about an 8 - 10 hour trip. But, we had to wait for mail (Larry's medications) that got delayed until Fri afternoon. We than decided to leave Fri afternoon and go 24 hours over directly to Andros, as we really weren't interested in Bimini. But, as we sailed we could get a better angle to the wind.
Both of the other boats left from near Key Largo Sat morning and arrived here Sat about 5pm. They were surprised to see us here, thinking we wouldn't meet up until Andros.
