Daring Adventure
Update-Finally!
03/28/2007, El Cid Marina - Mazatlan

We have a strong wifi signal here at the marina so it's time to update the blog! Lots has happened since our last report from sunny Mexico. We sailed as far south as Zihuatanejo with many scenic stops along the way. Each of the anchorages and harbors has its own personality and charm (some more than others). We really upset the local ecosystem when we weighed anchor in Zihua. A month in 80 plus degree water really speeds up the bottom growth. It was raining barnacles around the boat while we cleaned the bottom, the flopper stopper, anchor gear, and dinghy. The neighborhood pescas were fed well that day. Recently returned from a 5 day trip to Copper Canyon - the largest canyon on earth. Pretty impressive scenery and amazing to see the local Indian culture living much the way they have for hundreds of years. Now tied up in the El Cid Marina in Mazatlan. The pool has a waterslide, cliff to jump from and a grotto - all right up Nate's alley. The best part is a neighboringg boat, Arctic Willow, has 2 kids ages 5 and 7 for Nate to play with. Cruising kids become instant friends out of necessity. They carefully watch boats enter and leave anchorages, anticipating there will be kids aboard to befriend or reacquaint themselves with.

Our next move is to visit Carly for a few days in D.C., then Kirsten flies down for a visit end of next week. She's officially done w/college! 1 down, 2 to go. Then off to Baja leaving here about 12 April.

Check out the new photos posted today as well!

12/21/2006, Puerto Vallarta

Arrived in P.V. on 12/15 after a beam reach across th Gulf. Grandpa B. was a great help aboard during the delivery south. Grandma Sue just left after a nice 3 day visit. K & C are here for a week so we will do a whirlwind tour of Banderas Bay before they head back to the rain and cold.
