What is that smell?

Occasionally I find a flower or a crushed leaf that I inhale with all my might. Sniffing again and again the lovely scent. That is what I am doing now only it's not a flower or plant that keeps my nose in the the air. It's land. It smells like dirt & trees. It smells wonderful. We've been to sea for 7 days & nights, seeing only a few ships, but never land. We are still 5 miles from the corner of the first of the Galapagos islands & about 25 from our first harbor.
It's just after midnight, I'm on watch, Ken is sleeping, The moon is bright, just now showing it's first signs of setting. This is one of those moments that I will never forget.
