Stuck
10 November 2010 | Great Bridge
The definition of cruising on a sailboat is "Fixing your boat in exotic places!". Well, I'm not sure Great Bridge is an exotic port but it's not a bad place to be for a few days. Yesterday as I was getting close to the Great Bridge lock, I noticed my electronic chartplotter screen going erratic. It got fuzzy and distorted to the point I couldn't read any of the info being displayed. The chartplotter not only shows me my position on a map but also is my radar screen so, that means I lost access to both bits of info. I ALWAYS carry paper charts on board as well so, it's not the end of the world. But, I really hate to head offshore alone witout radar. Lucky for me I found a local electronics guy who took the unit yesterday and will be troubleshooting it this morning. So, another day sitting in Great Bridge! It's been good though to get off the boat and walk and there are always boat jobs I can get caught up on.
If any of you are around the Norfolk area come visit Boundless while she's here! :)
