Day 3
12 June 2013 | Potomac River
NCS group
Hi Mom, Dad and other parents! This is Jack. The trip has been great and we are having a lot of fun. I have never seen this much of the Chesapeake Bay. One day we went to a small island and looked for shark teeth. On the island there was also a lot of ospreys and osprey nests with eggs in the nests. We all found at least one shark teeth. Well we are doing something new every day, can't wait to see you guys.
This is Nick. This week of the snailing trip has been very educational, fun, and interesting. We have raised and lowered the main sail, made lunch, dinner, and breakfast, and anchored to explore different places. However, my favorite thing so far was going up the mast in a seat attached to the very top. When I arrived a top the 56-foot mast I was cleated on at the bottom and was able to swing back and forth at the top(there are videos of if you want to watch). It was scary at first but I soon enjoyed it doing many tricks(like a 900 degree rotation/2 1/2 360s). It was very fun and I hope to do it again.
This is Alex. This week has been a great learning experience and a ton of fun. Each of us have had to try something new this week. Mine new experience was just this night when Captain "Skippy" and jack hoisted me up the mast. At first it was scary but after a while i got used to it and it was a lot of fun. I'm glad i got to do it. Another fun adventure was the trip to a Colonial town. There we got to go on one of the old ships called the dove. It was cool because that exact ship was the same one that held old settlers that had colonized over 400 years ago. Probably the coolest addition was the wildlife. We saw pigs, roosters (we all tried to buy one), chickens, woodchucks, cats, dogs, and even some snakes. Overall this trip had been one of the best trips I've had in a while. Its going to be sad when we have to leave but right now I'm ready for tonight.
