Monastir
01 July 2014
Our time in Tunisia has come to an end but the memories we take away with us will last forever.
For someone who wasn't really keen on visiting the country, I am looking forward to a return journey. Having spent 7 years travelling in the Med, the culture difference that Tunisia offers is an assault on the senses; all in a good way. Monastir was a great place to be based and, together with Maggie & Branko, we saw and did a lot in our short time there including celebrating Branko's birthday. The market sold everything from cow's heads to toilet paper and was excellent value. The colourful ceramics on the buildings and in the shops provided colour and design. The sunsets were breathtaking, the people friendly and the spice-filled shop fronts filled the air with exotic aromas.
While it was possible to buy alcohol in a lot of places, the home-made lemonade (citronade) tasted better and there was nothing better than sipping a cool glass of it in the shade of the afternoon sun.
Now we are off to Malta where Deep Blue will be lifted out of the water for a couple of weeks for some TLC.
