Give a girl the shoes and she can conquer the world!
02 July 2015
Many years ago, I gave one of my sister's, Debra, who seemed to have a collection of shoes and still does, a little picture that she hangs in her kitchen which says 'Give a girl the shoes and she can conquer the world'.
That phrase came to mind a few days ago as I celebrated my 50th birthday. At anchor in Porto Frallis, on the east coast of Sardinia with Chris and David, I started they day by opening cards and presents and was thoroughly spoilt by everyone with perfume, jewellery, Maui Jim sunglasses, smellies and, one of my presents from Chris was a pair of Crocs. Now, he knows that I am not a fan of them at all on me BUT I had to make an exception for a pair of HIGH-HEELED Crocs! Not only are they comfy and high but they are boat friendly too (that is until you catch the heel on the boat and end up twisting an ankle!! No, I haven't done this).
After sipping champagne, we went ashore and first stop was Incontro Divino, a new wine-bar that had good reviews on the internet, especially for the Live Music. When we got there, we found out that the music was on Thursday nights and it was Tuesday! A glass of chilled Vermentino later and we were off to La Lucitta for dinner.
La Lucitta is a short walk from the beach and we sat outside, overlooking the bay and had the most delicious meal. I had the taster menu which included Sheep Carpaccio, Chris had seafood and David had roast piglet. I also had the taster wines to accompany my dinner and after the earlier champagne and wine-bar visit, I certainly felt as though I had celebrated my birthday in style.
