Gibraltar’s Botanical Gardens
16 October 2015
Before we left Gibraltar, we took some time out to visit the Botanical Gardens. Located underneath the Rock, adjacent to the cable-car up to the top, they are an oasis of calm and a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life there.
During the summer, plays are performed there in a small amphi-theatre. Picnic tables encourage everyone to enjoy the gardens over lunch and there is also a small Gardening Club too. An Italian gardener spent many years tending the gardens and developed a sunken garden area, typical of the area he came from in Italy. Today, the sunken garden is dedicated to him and his hard work.
Wearing a green top that day, it was sometimes hard to spot me amongst the flora and fauna. Chris however, was easily spotted!
