Loved the story about the half-way dinner! Also, hoping that wasn't my brother who clogged the head - or stowed-away the wipes!
Really impressed with the stories about playing the cells etc- made two old salts who have learned a lot about being respectful of the high seas, feel that skills from the Great Lakes really do translate to the oceans.
Basil's sister and brother-in-law have enjoyed following your odyssey -
Living vicariously, again Bravo!!

Incredible ending to this classic yacht race for team Denali. Not only because we won(official results not posted yet) but also because we learned so much and once again realized the importance of pushing hard and not giving up,,, ever. The guys worked very hard to get this win, and earned every bit of it. The last hours of the race were filled with drama and excitement as we met up with a very angry storm cell and had to ride it out since we were unable to escape it. A new Denali official speed record of 24.4 knots was posted with Bill driving. The storm front hit with gusts to 35 knots and we were lucky to ride those winds for several hours,,, straight toward the finish line. By the time the storm was over, we entered Molokai channel with it's traditional high winds and huge rolling seas. This again pushed us toward the finish with periodic speeds up to 20 knots. This is a huge thrill for us, and the crew were cheering with happiness for this rare treat. A press boat met us for the last mile or so to the finish and got some great shots of Denali flying across the water. We are now enjoying beautiful weather on Oahu and just finished a lavish spread by our hosts Denise and Michael. Of course Mai tai's were part of this celebration. The celebration continues tonight with a Luau and a visit from a real Hawaiin king. We are all on cloud nine :-) *** in the meantime, we wait for final results to be posted.
