We have said goodbye to our crew and left Cabo for Los Frailes, a pleasant day sail at about 2 miles off a beautiful coastline. We are currently anchored in four fathoms of clean clear water looking down on our anchor chain stretching across the sea floor with schools of fish swimming under and around our boat. The swimming here is warm and the water surface is smooth. Yesterday we scaled a steep and rocky cactus laden hill 750' tall in an attempt to find a phone signal. Much of this involved pulling ourselves upward by hand and foot holds in solid granite boulders. We never got a signal but the view of the anchorage was beautiful. We took photos.
I am so sorry about the lack of pictures but I haven't figured out that part through the sideband radio yet. When we did get a little internet service back at Cabo, we were too pressured taking care of laundry, boat needs, provisioning, Baja Ha Ha awards parties, establishing sailing contacts and entertaining with crew to allow me any time for blogging.
It is so nice to slow down now and be responsible for only ourselves for a while. With our arrival here the day before yesterday, we felt as though the adventure has just now begun. Last evening we made sixty gallons of water and today we will top off our tanks with another ninety gallons so we will be all ready to set sail again tomorrow at 5:00 AM. Our plan is to go north to Ensenada De Los Muertos and anchor for a few days until the winds and seas settle from the next front coming down the Baja. Then we'll backtrack down about twenty miles or so to anchor off the beach in front of shiela's house to enjoy Thanks Giving together on terra firma.
About half of the Ha Ha Fleet has departed for the mainland and about half for La Paz. There are still a few of us here wanting to enjoy this part of the coast at a leisurely pace and we all got together on one boat last night for sundowners. It was a pleasant evening and we came back to our boat after dark, shut down the watermaker and grilled fresh caught tuna on the transom.
Today we listened to weather on the sideband to arrive at our decisions about tomorrow and later I think a little snorkeling will be in order, followed by readying Desert Vision for tomorrow's passage.
