Finally leaving for Indonesia

After 10 days of sailing through the Gulf of Carpenteria and along the north coast of Australia, we finally made it to Darwin Thursday in the middle of the night. I think I told you in my last update that the cable to my computer (where my electronic charts are) broke and I had ordered a new one in Thursday Island but unfortunately the Australian postal service lost it. After waiting for nothing for several days in that isolated outpost, we decided to head to Darwin where I could buy a new one. After we got here I found one and now we are ready to head to Indonesia after checking out with customs tomorrow. Today I did a bus tour through Darwin, a very nice town with lots of parks. I visited the museum which has an outstanding collection of aboriginal art and also an exhibition on the cyclone destruction of Darwin in 1974. I also saw the fuel tunnels they built during WW II after the Japanese bombed the city. Quite impressive. I understand they now want to rehab them for future use. Well tomorrow we head for the Arafura Sea and Indonesia!!
