Helping Wombat

22 May 2010
What goes around comes around (we hope!)
Today was spent working on Wombat's rerig. John and John Cerutty from "Aurielle" helped Mike find the correct expletive for each specific occasion - a seized bolt, a corroded grub- screw or a hammered finger. What with rain showers and coffee breaks this was a full day's work; at the end of this Lynn prepared a most welcome and tasty pasta casserole. There is a little more to do in the morning, but Mike looks on track to re-step the mast Monday morning. Then we will be looking for suitable winds to head north.
We are anchored at the bottom end of Pittwater, opposite Bayview. The place is thick with moored boats, almost too many to allow easy passage around the area, but it's quite pretty down here. Last night we were back up in Coaster's Retreat, and were surprised to have Ben and Marj on "Valhalla II" moor near us. Our first night on a boat away from Sydney was here about 22 years ago, and we still love the ambience of the place - lovely little sand beach, Norfolk pines and a backdrop of eucalypts in the National Park, and the sound of kids having fun as their families spend a few days camping under the trees behind the beach.
We have put up a few pics, so have a look in the Photo Gallery, upper right of this page.
Cheers from us.
