Fishing

We finally have a little time to upload the blog!
We are now in Georgetown, rather unexpectedly, due to the weather. We will take the time to update the blog, top off our fuel and water, and relax for a bit.
After leaving Exuma Park, we traveled with Night Hawk down to Pipe Creek and explored that area for the first time. We had a chance to do some snorkeling in a very pretty area and take some pictures, while Barry and Susan tried some line fishing.
The next day we headed to Sampson Cay (unfortunately, the island is a private island now and posted with no trespassing signs), where we used to enjoy long walks, a fuel dock, a small store, and restaurant. We went out and did some snorkeling, some fishing and lobstering. Then on the rising tide we headed to Black Point, where we did laundry, Susan and Nancy got haircuts from Ida, and we had a delicious homemade soup and fresh bread dinner on Night Hawk. After that we head to Georgetown. It is hard to leave our friends, but we hope to see them in a couple of weeks in the Jumentos! They are staying for Christmas and to participate in the races over New Year's.
Our trip to Georgetown from Black Point is a 50 mile day, long day (at least 10 hours) so we start at 6:00 AM, before light. On the way down, on the Exuma Sound, it is 1000's of feet deep, and it is where we can catch mahi. We put the lines out around 7:30 AM and by around noon we had both lines get a strike! Dick grabbed the first one and Nancy grabbed the other. We managed to get both mahi in the boat! One was 28" and Nancy pulled in a 34" mahi! So exciting as we are both pulling in fish. It should be noted that that was Nancy's first mahi and the biggest fish she ever caught!
