Yummy Conch anyone?

08 March 2006 | Frazer's Hog Cay, Bahamas

Our good friends, Linda and Steve from the catamaran Seaman's Elixir, who we first met back in Canada when they took delivery of their new PDQ 44, and who we met numerous times on the southbound trek, wanted to know how to extract, clean and prepare a conch. Now, many years ago, while we were cruising on our sailboat "Najade", we knew how to do that. But, did we remember?
Well, armed with hammer, chisel, bucket, cutting board and knives we gave it a go. Good thing we decided to do this exercise on the beach with lots of water available to wash up. It turned out to be a messy job.
Steve, who used to own 5,000 Angus cattle up in Wyoming and who knows how to barbecue and is an excellent fisherman, commented: "Who ever thought of eathing THIS, must have been very hungry!"
Following dinner, expertly prepared by Linda, who is a gourmet cook, was scrumptious and included cracked conch ;-)
