Off to Puerto Lucia

A week before Benno and I were to fly out from Guayaquil, Ecuador to Toronto, Canada for the wedding of our son, we sailed out of Bahia de Caraquez to Salinas, with a one day stopover at Isla de la Plata to clean the barnacles off DD's bottom. We were going to leave Diesel Duck for the next two months at the Puerto Lucia Yacht Club, which has also a public marina. The facilities were excellent. However, DD had to be tied bow to the dock with two stern lines to two moorings and the incoming swell sometimes made for interesting debarking acrobatics which necessitated the use of the rope ladder dangling off the bowsprit.
Our live aboard fee included the use of the restaurant, bar, laundry, tennis courts, swimming pools, showers, cruiser's lounge in the club area, wifi/internet room with three computers and a book exchange. There were concierge services as well as 24 hour security at the gate and on the premises.
The staff went out of their way to make us welcome. On Friday nights, we live aboard cruisers wanted to make potlucks. So the marina personnel set up tables and chairs for us under the trees complete with portable gas BBQ and white linnen tablecloth. I say that is service!
