Rounding Cape Horn

The wind was light in the morning in the Paso Gorree strait and also while crossing the 30 miles of the Bahia Nassau. Once through the Bahia and toward Canal Bravo, which separates Isla Wollaston from Isla Freycinet, we were once more called by an Armada post. This time Isla Wollaston and the marinero needed to confirm that it was Diesel Duck he saw through his binocular on the way to the horn. By now the wind had diminished to less than 10 knots. A real Diesel Duck day. In Pasa Mar del Sur, another strait between Isla Herschel and Isla Deceit, we dodged a cruise ship suddenly coming out of the strait. Then Isla Hornos came into our view. Now or never, one last look around and we began our journey to run west 6 miles between Isla Herschel and Isla Hornos.
(Here is a picture of the whole trip around the Horn from the plotter as we returned between Isla Herschel and Isla Deceit)
