The next day in Rio we wanted to go an see Cristo Redentor, the Statue of Christ the Redeemer. The enormous statue of Jesus is the symbol of Rio and it can be seen from every point of the city. The Christ statue sits at the Corcovado mountain which is 710 meter above the sea level and the statue is 38 meter (125 ft) tall. To get up there, we took the electric powered cog-train from the Velho station. The ride for the 3.8 km takes about 20 minutes through lush vegetation.
