Diomedea has completed her refit at RPAYC and so it became time to return to Sydney harbour. We had a nice sail down from Barrenjoey to the harbour on Sunday, a 15 knot nor'easter speeding us along. I had mentioned to Andrea that there would be no welcoming committee to greet us on our triumphal return. How wrong I was. About 200metres off North Head, two very large mammals cavorted just next to Diomedea to give us a very special homecoming celebration. The humpbacks blew, splashed and tail slapped before sounding to re-emerge in our wake.

A New Australian

It has taken a little time. In fact, Andrea has lived in Australia since 1982 but she is only now a newly minted Australian citizen. She passed the Australian citizenship test with flying colours, having travelled to Melbourne to sit the exam. Last week the actual ceremony was conducted by Mayor Dom Lopez of Mosman. All that remains is to obtain the passport.
