comfort aboard
Before embarking on our adventure we needed to find a way of storing our clothes (for all seasons), bedding and towels (bathing, hand, tea and beach).
Having spent many holidays aboard we certainly didn't want to keep everything in numerous kit bags which clutter up the back cabins and cause you to swear every time you want something out of them. For us the answer was fairly simple but I must confess it did take a little while to construct.
The units (there are two of them - one in each hull) are made from a light wooden frame (20mm sq) boxed in with 6mm marine plywood which is then faced with ash veneer and a teak trim to match the rest of the boats joinery.
Internally each of the units are lined with 20mm of closed cell foam and carpet to keep condensation at bay.
To finish off a couple of Dimplex 600w thermostatically controlled wall mounted heaters offers some warmth on cool summer nights or during the winter when mains electricity is available.
We've been living aboard for 12 months now and I'm pleased to say the units have been a complete success. For us we've found that by keeping all the spare bedding and towels in the spare cabin unit means we visit this less frequently than the one in master cabin which contains all the clothes and is used daily.
