During our travels we needed approx. 30 litres of water per day to cover showers, washing up, teas, coffees etc. We concluded that it was easier to collect water using flexible containers when we went ashore which was usually on a daily basis.

The alternative was to wait until the tanks were more or less empty and then find somewhere to moor and fill up. 30 litres may appear excessive, but since water in the UK is free we saw no reason to ration ourselves just yet.
