The adventures of Yacht Flirtie

"Hi, we are sailing yacht Flirtie's crew, Bruce and Caroline. Welcome to our blog.

catch of the day!

Look what we caught today ... a little Dorade (Red Bream). Actually by the end of the day we caught a grand total of three Red Bream, all too small to eat though.

I say 'we' as I caught one too just when Bruce was about to check out what bait and techniques the frenchman nearby was using having caught a whopper of a fish (apparently also a Dorade).

You can imagine that this catch has really boosted our confidence having caught nothing all season! Mind you, we did have to work for it having spent the whole morning at low tide digging for lugworms! By the time we finished Bruce had a couple of blisters on his hands from using the small spade and we were both covered in mud, sand and salt up to our knees - what a sight.

Additionally I had the all important job of noting the best place to fish (based on number of worm casts on the seabed) so that when we returned at high tide we knew where to cast our hook & bait.

A good day was had by all (especially the fish as they live for another day).
