Go-Karting kids...
We've just returned from spending a fantastic day Go-Karting at Autodrome Internacional Algarve.
The centre is located up in the hills and far away above Portimao and Lagos. The track is outdoors and pretty impressive with several long stretches and hairpin bends to focus the mind.
Phil actually owns a Kart, number 39 which is decorated along the sides and across the front with 'go faster' transfers. He even has his own support man John who meticulously maintains the kart so that it is in optimal condition ready to be used at a moment's notice.
Phil - in his element
We've done indoor Karting before however doing it outdoors is a whole new experience and certainly an opportunity that shouldn't be missed on a circuit like this.
We're no Lewis Hamilton but between us we felt that our laps were fast, very fast as the wind blew up our clothes which kept us cool in the heat of the midday sun.
We've found a side to ourselves that's competitive. Not towards one another but towards trying to beat our personal best lap time. Bruce recorded an impressive 42 seconds but not without performing a couple of 360 degree spins before achieving his personal best - at least he managed to stay on the track.
Bruce
I just couldn't compete with his time as I rounded one corner whilst feeling the back end slip slightly... that's when I heard myself scream!
Caroline
Carmen was staying with Phil and Ros and fancied a days excitement on the track rather than hiking in the hills. Her facial expression said it all - she was having fun!
Carmen
The professionals consistently complete a circuit in 35 seconds apparently.
The day finished off with a stop off at the local bar for a thirst quenching beer followed by lunch.

Thanks again Phil for the invite, we had a marvellous and thoroughly enjoyable day.
